Agroseguro held an institutional conference on agricultural insurance in Tordesillas (Valladolid). It was in collaboration with ENESA, the Insurance Compensation Consortium, SAECA and Junta de Castilla y León. Particular attention was paid to lines whose tender period takes place in the autumn period.
The Agroseguro CEO, Inmaculada Poveda, He referred to the succession of severe meteorological phenomena suffered in the last six years. There have been up to three periods of drought (2017, 2019 and 2022), numerous thunderstorms of hail, wind and rain, historical snowfalls or severe episodes of high and low temperatures. All this has left “historical” damage to numerous productions, mainly fruit trees. For all these reasons, he stressed that farmers consider agricultural insurance “more necessary than ever”.
In this sense, he highlighted that, according to the latest Perceived Quality Index, “87% of policyholders have expressed their intention to renew their policy”, especially enhancing the work carried out by Agroseguro on aspects such as the quality of the service received telephone number (8.6) and the speed in paying the compensation (8.3). “Increased use of insurance improves the experience and satisfaction of the farmer and breeder,” he said.
The ENESA Director, Miguel Pérez Cimas, estimated the increase in the agricultural insurance budget at 60 million euros, which means a 10 percentage point increase in the basic subsidy for all lines starting their subscription period from 1 September 2022 to 30 August 2023.
