JOMBANG – The trend of the spread of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Jombang has increased compared to last year. Until the middle of this year alone, there were 86 people who tested positive, and the majority were children.
“Until this month there have been 86 cases reported, maybe there are still unreported,” said Haryo Purwono, Head of P2P Jombang Health Office.
Haryo said this number was higher than the report that was received in the middle of last year. In June 2021, the number of DHF sufferers was recorded at 65 people. “If it is calculated until the end of 2021, there are 93 cases,” he added.
According to him, there are several factors that caused the increase in dengue cases this year. the most prominent, according to him, is because the rainy season is coming longer. “Indeed, the rainy season this year is longer, last year there may also be a few who reported, because many are afraid to go to the hospital,” added Haryo.
Of the 86 DHF patients, 70 percent were dominated by children. “It’s true, in the age range of 5-14 years, but there have been no reported cases of death,” he added. Until now, there are also three people who are being treated in a number of hospitals. “So that is positive, if the suspect is not counted,” he explained.
With this high enough number, Haryo hopes that the community will revive the jumantik cadres in their respective regions. At least, in one house, there is one person who can monitor the development of mosquito larvae.
