The data refer to October 10, since then the total number of victims has risen again to the current 1172 (as of Thursday afternoon).

The data show that the second largest group of deaths were people receiving a disability pension (21). This is followed by people who record statistics by other occupations (16) and the unemployed (8).

The register distinguishes a total of 45 areas or occupations. In other categories, the numbers of deaths in the number of units are already registered.

Although the most numerous group of those infected since the onset of the epidemic are pupils, students and apprentices, no coronavirus-related deaths have been reported to date. This also applies to children.

In recent days, there has been an exponential increase in confirmed cases in the Czech Republic. Proportionally, the number of hospitalizations is increasing and it is only a matter of time before the increase is reflected in the number of deaths. These were the key indicators for the government of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO), which until recently documented the success of the Czech Republic in managing the epidemic and defended its actions.

To prevent the collapse of the health care system due to congestion, the government plans to increase the capacity of beds outside hospitals when the army is deployed. Beds stored by the State Material Reserves Administration (SSHR) will be used and additional beds will be purchased.
