In total, 73% of Guanajuato’s population has been vaccinated against the flu this 2022-2023 season, which equates to nearly 1.5 million people who are already protected from the virus.
Through the intense vaccination campaign that began last October with the vaccination of medical personnel in anticipation of the respiratory disease season, the vaccination is aimed at the white group under the age of 59 months and adults over the age of 60.
In addition, there is another risk group that the vaccine is also intended for and this includes people aged 5 to 59 with HIV, with diabetes mellitus, obesity, acute or chronic heart disease, with chronic diseases such as COPD and asthma, cancer of all ages, heart and congenital diseases; as well as other groups requiring prolonged use of salicylates, people with renal insufficiency and immunosuppression, healthcare professionals and pregnant women.

Daniel Alberto Díaz Martínez, head of the Ministry of Health, explained that the campaign covers from October to March 2023, the dose contains protection for the three serotypes AH3N2, AH1N1 and the “B” type virus of the Victoria lineage.
The total target of the application of the vaccine is one million 200 thousand doses and this advances significantly so that in children from 6 to 59 months there is 70% vaccination, it should be remembered that in this group are applied two doses, which is why they should respect the time to receive their second dose.
Meanwhile, more than 96% of healthcare personnel have already been vaccinated and 80% of people living with HIV have already been vaccinated.
At the state level, Health Jurisdiction 1 added the application of 97,000 doses, San Miguel de Allende Health Jurisdiction 2 added 88,000 doses, Celaya Jurisdiction and its municipalities applied 139,500 units of vaccines, Health Jurisdiction IV of Acámbaro has a demand for 59 thousand 759 vaccines, the Health Jurisdiction V of Salamanca and its municipalities adds 110 thousand 135 vaccines, the Jurisdiction of Irapuato and its municipalities has an advance of 118 thousand vaccines, while the Health Jurisdiction VI of León 215 thousand vaccines for a total of 847 thousand 455 doses.
Vaccination was also carried out at the ISSSTE and IMSS centres, where 58,000 and 509,000 were applied respectively.
