82 bags collected in Guiglo – AIP – Ivorian Press Agency of the Ivory Coast

Guiglo, January 10, 2023 (AIP) – About 82 bags of blood were collected on Sunday, January 8, 2023, in Guiglo, by the National Blood Transfusion Center (CNTS) of Man, during a blood donation operation initiated by the local branch of the Ansar-Dine Muslim community, on the sidelines of the staggered celebration of Maouloud (birth of the Prophet Mohammed, founder of Islam).

“The Ansar-Dine community has understood the importance of blood donation and the CNTS, through my voice, expresses its thanks to this community, and invites everyone to do the same to avoid the lack of blood in Man”, he said CNTS Man agent Nestor Guéi.

He suggested that Man’s blood bank needs, on average, 1,700 bags of blood a month to be self-sufficient. “15,000 blood bags are needed each year to allow CNTS Man to cover the needs of the regions of Cavally, Guémon, Tonkpi and Bafing, its he coverage area,” he added.

Nestor Guéi, in terms of the 2022 budget, indicated that the CNTS man collected 12,000 blood bags, which is a 75% coverage rate of his needs. Before declining some advantages for a regular blood donor, in particular a free health check every three months, a donor card which also supports his family members including children under 18. In case of need for blood, the regular donor and his heirs benefit from it as a priority and free of charge, he assured.

Three followers of the Ansar-Dine community who participated in the operation, namely Ouattara Dramane, Dao Kalilou and Koné Djaratou, said they donated part of their blood to help save lives in hospitals across the four man-covered regions of the CNTS.
