800,000 people have already died of coronavirus worldwide

The number of deaths with covid-19 has doubled since June 6, and the number of deaths has risen 100,000 in 17 days since August 5. It has been 147 days since the first death was reported in China, with 400,000 covid-19 deaths worldwide. Another 400,000 more were killed in 77 days, according to AFP.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday that it hopes the coronavirus pandemic will be less than two years old.

411 people died in the Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic alone, 411 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported, with three more in the past 24 hours.

The worst affected country remains the United States with at least 175,429 deaths with covid-19. They are followed by Brazil with 113,358 dead, Mexico with 59,610 and India with 55,794 victims. Of the European countries, Britain is the worst affected, with 41,491 deaths.

In the former pandemic management role in Germany, the number of new cases has exceeded 2,000 in the last 24 hours. This is the largest increase since April. New cases have started to multiply in recent days, and the authorities are explaining them with the return of many German holidaymakers from high-risk areas. Some experts also explain it by increased testing.

Record increase in the Czech Republic

On Friday, another 506 infected people were confirmed in our republic, which is an unflattering record. The total number of cases in the Czech Republic thus increased to 21,551. At present, 5,078 people are ill, and 16,062 have recovered.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš asked the media not to intimidate people in connection with the numbers of a large increase in the number of coronavirus infections. According to him, the low number of hospitalized is important. In Czech hospitals, 108 people are currently being treated with covid-19, 22 of whom need intensive care.

Globally, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is already approaching 23 million.
