80,000 Pediatric Covid-19 Vaccines Expired, Paraguay Health Official Reports

Mr. Hugo Luis Cousirat, director of the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI), dependent on the General Directorate of Health Surveillance (DGVS), reported through Chaco Boreal 1330 AM radio that 80,000 pediatric vaccines against Covid-19 expired.

He commented that around 5,000 doses were used as part of the first dose vaccination schedule in the pediatric population with risk factors, from six months to 4 years.

“The rest that was not used was already removed from the cold chain precisely to proceed with the final destruction of those doses. We are talking about more than 80,000 doses, the adherence of the population in that range of six months to 4 years with that vaccine is very low,” he expressed.

He explained that 96,000 doses arrived in the country that were focused on vaccinating children with risk factors for serious illness from Covid-19.
