80,000 homes without electricity in broad daylight, due to a faulty substation in Lamentin

This Thursday, November 24, 2022, EDF Martinique reported on its Facebook page early in the afternoon “an accident at the Lamentin spring substation” in the Petit-Morne district. Consequence: 80,000 subscribers were deprived of electricity and a subcontractor was injured. The situation has gradually improved since then, according to the operator.



Electricité De France announced on social networks this Thursday November 24, 2022 early in the afternoon,an accident at the source station of the city of Lamentin, which currently deprives 80,000 subscribers of electricity”.

This substation located in the district of Petit-Morne, feeds the networks of the municipalities of the center of Martinique as well as the south and part of the north of the island.

Our teams are on the ground and are actively carrying out remedial maneuvers to restore the situation as quickly as possible.

The duration of this intervention is not estimated, but the operator takes care of it “We apologize for the inconvenience”.

Furthermore, an agent of a subcontractor company was injured during this repair (still in progress).

In fact, an employee of a service provider was injured. He was treated by the firefighters and evacuated conscious to the university hospital of Martinique. But at this stage the causes of the accident are not known. Naturally, an investigation will be required both by us and by the police who immediately went to the scene and set up a security perimeter.
