The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS)registered up to 11 September 2022 a total of 80,941 notifications of adverse events after the 102,965,566 doses of vaccines administered against Covid, which would correspond to 79 notifications for every 100,000 doses administered.
In his opinion 17th Pharmacovigilance Report on Covid Vaccinespublished on Monday, the most frequently reported events continue to be general disorders (fever and pain at the vaccination site)of the nervous system (headache and dizziness) and the musculoskeletal system (myalgia and arthralgia).
65% of adverse reactions were reported by healthcare professionals and 35% by citizens. Most of the notifications concern women (73%) and people aged 18 to 65 (87%).
Of Of the 80,941 notifications of adverse events, 13,627 were considered serious, meaning any adverse event that requires or prolongs hospitalization, gives rise to a significant or persistent disability or congenital malformation, is life-threatening or fatal, as well as any other condition considered clinically significant.
Of the 13,627 notifications of adverse events considered serious received up to 11 September, 467 resulted in death.
In any case, Health reminds you that “these events cannot be considered vaccine related simply because they have been reportedAnd”.
“In the overwhelming majority of reported cases where there is information on history and concomitant therapy, death can be explained by the patient’s previous clinical situation and / or other treatments he / she was taking and the causes of death are different., Without present a homogeneous scheme. Vaccination does not reduce deaths from causes other than Covid, so during the vaccination campaign it is expected that deaths for other reasons will continue, sometimes in close temporal association with the administration of the vaccine, without this being related to having been vaccinated », they insist on this.
