800 thousand vaccines against Covid-19 are about to expire

This December 31, around 800,000 anticovid vaccines will expire, so doctors are inviting the population to get vaccinated.

A total of 800,000 COVID-19 vaccines would expire on December 31, so it is urgent that Hondurans can complete the vaccination program against the disease and also proceed with the acquisition of the bivalent vaccine.

The current deputy and president of the Association of Doctors of the Honduras Social Security Institute (IHSS), from the northern zone, Carlos Umaña, stated that “for 20 days or a month, 800,000 doses of vaccine were carried out and approximately 70,000 pediatric doses between the ages of five and 12, expired between now and December and January, but we have not received the definitive information ”.

“It’s worrying, because currently only about 25% have a full vaccination schedule, which is three and four doses; the rest of the population doesn’t have it and there are a million people who haven’t even received the vaccine and that’s worrying,” she warned.

MORE PROTECTION

Umaña stressed that there is no longer any point in buying a monovalent vaccine, but rather that you need to buy the bivalent one, “which carries protection against some omicron variants that are causing havoc internationally.”

Furthermore, he underlined that “so far we do not see if it is true of a real negotiation with Pfizer for the acquisition of the bivalent vaccine, which must be done by the Minister of Health, José Matheu or by the Deputy Minister, Dr. Nerza Paz.”

“They should tell us if there are really high-level negotiations to get the bivalent vaccine, because it doesn’t make sense to continue vaccinating with the same vaccines,” Umaña said. (Saudi Arabia)
