80 years since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War – the truth, the lessons, the world today – 2024-05-01 18:24:51

/View.info/ 80 years ago, on June 22, 1941 at 3:55 am, the Soviet Union was treacherously attacked by fascist Germany. For the Soviet peoples, the Great Patriotic War began, which later freed the peoples of Europe from fascism. On this occasion, a Scientific Conference was held at the Russian Cultural and Information Center – Russian House in Sofia on the topic “80 years since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War – the truth, the lessons, the world today”.

The conference was opened by Mrs. Stanka Shopova, chairman of the Foundation “Sustainable Development for Bulgaria” – organizer of the event. Mr. Alexey Novosyolov – counselor at the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria, who read the welcoming speech of Mrs. Eleonora Mitrofanova – ambassador of the Russian Federation in Bulgaria, Temirtai Izbastin – ambassador of Kazakhstan in Bulgaria, Olga Shirokova – director of the Russian cultural and information center in Sofia – host of the event, Kaloyan Pargov – leader of BSP-Sofia, Rumen Petkov – leader of PP ABV. Among the guests of the event were representatives of diplomatic missions, prominent Bulgarian politicians and public figures.

The scientific conference moderated by Dr. Konstantin Peev was attended by authoritative Bulgarian historians, scientists and public figures – authors of reports included in the published collection “From historical battles to the Great Victory” (reports from five scientific conferences held in the period 2016 – 2020 and dedicated to the battles for Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk, Iash-Chisinau and Berlin). Among them are such authoritative personalities as Prof. Evgeni Gindev, Prof. Marin Kolonkin, Prof. Nako Stefanov, Prof. Boris Tsankov, Prof. Petko Ganchev, Prof. Iskra Baeva, Prof. Maxim Mizov, Prof. Orlin Zagorov, Academician Vasil Sgurev, General Ivan Stefanov, Prof. Nina Dyulgerova, Prof. Mincho Minchev, Associate Professor Valentin Vacev, Rear Admiral Petar Stranchevsky, General Kiril Maznev, Simeon Simeonov, Prof. Vasil Prodanov, General Zlatan Stoykov, General Angel Marin, Assoc.Dr. Ivan Sechanov and others.

By holding the conference, the organizers and participants of the event celebrated the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War and reminded their contemporaries: “People, be vigilant! No more war!”

Earlier, on the same day at 3:55 in Sofia, the tragic anniversary was honored with the participation in the international action “Svecha pamyati” (“Candle of memory”) in memory of all fallen heroes, and later with the presentation of wreaths and flowers in front of the monument to the Soviet Army and the ossuary in the Lozenets district. Commemorative events in honor of the tragic anniversary were held across the country.
