According to the Asahi Shimbun that day, a high-ranking official from the organizing committee said, “I am worried about how the world will accept the spread of infection in Japan.” Another official said, “If you think of people who have a hard time living day by day or medical workers, hosting the Olympics is not a problem.”
The organizing committee is currently working on a guideline for countermeasures against coronavirus for athletes and competition officials, and plans to start online interviews with the Olympic Committees of each country in January. However, as the spread of corona in Japan has not stopped, there is also growing concern about hosting the event.
Prudence is also emerging within Japanese politics. On the 5th, Toshihiro Nikai, the second leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, said, “I would like to hear the opinion that it will not hold.”
In Japan, the number of corona 19 confirmed cases is exploding. Up to the 9th, more than 7000 people occurred for 4 consecutive days, and 6081 people occurred on the 10th, still maintaining a high level.
In addition, four men and women who arrived from Brazil following the mutant virus from Britain and South Africa were confirmed to be infected with the new mutant virus, raising concerns about the spread of the mutant virus.
