Phew !, nothing has changed. After two months of stopping, the Bundesliga resumed this weekend and the fundamentals are there: Borussia Dortmund is still a scoring machine. Schalke 04 is always upside down. Erling Haaland is still skillful at goal (he scored the first goal of the day) and most importantly, the young Norwegian prodigy is still a nightmare for post-game interviewers. Especially since the new rules of social distancing wanted by the Bundesliga further distance the interviewer from his interlocutor, as shown in the photo above.
The topic was however well chosen, the questions well brought, the reminders supported, but nothing helped: four questions and in all and for all, eight words of answer in English:
“You and your teammates went to the famous yellow wall at the end of the match. Why?” Lapidary answer: “Why not!” Reminder: “Was this a message you wanted to get across?” “Yes”. “Could you tell us the message?” “To my fans”. “They are everything for you and Borussia Dortmund, right?” “That’s it”.
It’s a tradition at Erling Haaland. The France Football journalist who interviewed him before the PSG-Dortmund return match said he had encountered a “cyborg”. In this rather surreal interview, he regretted his many mistakes in the first leg where he had scored twice.
