8 tricks to avoid mosquito bites during the winter.. what are they?

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — Although many people are looking forward to rainy winter weather, it could also mean an increase in the number of mosquitoes around us.

Mosquitoes multiply during the rains, according to a tweet posted by the Saudi Public Health Authority on Twitter.

Mosquitoes that bite humans actively track us, mainly because they not only make us itch, as this insect can carry dangerous diseases such as dengue fever, West Nile virus, malaria and others.

And the Saudi public health authority has shared some tips for protecting yourself from these pesky insects.

Here are 8 tips to avoid mosquito bites:

  • Get rid of places where mosquitoes can breed, such as pools of water, inside and outside your home
  • Make sure that the protective nets on the windows are intact and free of holes that allow mosquitoes to enter
  • Weekly cover, empty or clean household water storage containers, such as water tanks, tubs, vases, etc.
  • Avoid areas with standing water when you leave the house
  • Use light traps at home to control mosquitoes or wall-mounted odorless insecticides
  • Get rid of solid waste, plastic bins and containers on roofs or in your home garden
  • Wear long-sleeved clothes
  • Use a mosquito repellent cream or spray

And if you’re in places where mosquitoes abound, see a doctor when you notice these symptoms:

  • High temperature
  • Headache
  • Pain behind the eyes
  • Muscle and joint pains
  • Nausea
  • Rash
  • He retched
