The Omicron variant is believed to trigger milder symptoms than other Corona variants. In fact, it is believed to be similar to the common cold such as a runny and stuffy nose, cough, headache, fatigue, and sore throat. But in people who have already received the full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, will the symptoms be milder?
Researchers in Norway conducted a study of 111 and 117 guests at a party on November 26, 2021, when the Omicron variant began to spread. Among the subjects interviewed, 66 of them had a definitive case of COVID-19 and 15 of them had a possible case of the virus.
Of the 111 study participants, 89 percent had already received two doses of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine and none had been injected with a booster or further dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Quoted from the Independent, according to research published in the journal of infectious diseases and epidemiology, Eurosurveillance, there are eight main symptoms experienced by party guests who have received a full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, namely:
- Cough
- Have a cold
- Fatigue
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Muscle ache
- Fever
- Sneeze
The study found that cough, runny nose, and fatigue were the most common symptoms in individuals who had been vaccinated with the full dose, while sneezing and fever were the least common.
At first glance, the series of symptoms are similar to the common cold, making it difficult to tell them apart. According to Professor Tim Spector of the ZOE COVID study app, about 50 percent of cold cases are actually caused by COVID-19.
In addition, experts also believe that there are two symptoms that indicate a positive COVID-19, namely fatigue and dizziness or fainting. More than just feeling tired easily, ‘fatigue’ in this case can be interpreted as body aches with sore muscles, headaches, blurred vision and decreased appetite.
