8 Scary Facts About 2 Helicopter Collisions On Australian Coast

Two helicopter crash in Australia. The incident reportedly took place in the Gold Coast resort area in Brisbane, Australia.

A witness said both planes were flying over Broadwater at Southport. However, the propeller of one of the helicopters that had just taken off collided with another helicopter that was about to land.

One of the helicopters overturned on the sand a few meters from the beach. A piece of debris in the shape of a helicopter propeller was lying on the sand of the beach, not far from the wreck of the helicopter.

Meanwhile, another undamaged helicopter was seen at the scene, which is located near the ocean-themed amusement park, Sea World.

“These two helicopters made a hard landing when they collided and landed on a sandbar just outside the Sea World resort,” Queensland Police Constable Gary Worrell said at a news conference at the scene.

Number of victims: 4 people killed, 3 injured

In a helicopter carrying seven people, four people died. One of the dead was a pilot named Ashley Jenkinson. Meanwhile, three people were seriously injured.

“As a result of this incident, four people lost their lives today,” Queensland Police Acting Constable Gary Worrell said.

“Three other people are seriously ill in hospital,” Worrell added in the statement.

British couple thus victims killed

A husband and wife couple from England have been identified as two of the four victims who died in the collision of two mid-air helicopters near the coast of Gold Coast, Australia on Monday (2/1/2023). The other two dead victims were the helicopter pilot and a passenger whose nationality has not been named.

6 people survived

In another helicopter, a pilot and five passengers managed to land on the sand of the beach. They have all been declared safe.

Helicopter collision investigation

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the accident helicopter crash in Australia. Local authorities called it an “aerial collision”.
