8 people arrested in Makkah after group quarrel caught on video

The Makkah Al-Mukarramah police in Saudi Arabia announced, on Wednesday, the arrest of 8 people, following a group quarrel, a clip of which spread on social media.

And the Saudi General Security announced, in a statement, that the Makkah city police arrested “7 residents and a visiting expatriate who appeared in video content circulating during a group quarrel in a public place.”

And the statement added that the quarrel was caused by “during a previous relationship between them,” adding that “they were arrested, regular measures were taken against them, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution.”

The General Security published pictures of the arrested individuals, along with a video clip that showed a large group of people attacking each other with stones and also using chairs during the clashes that took place in a public area.

And the video clip was widely spread during the past hours on social media in the Kingdom, and one of the tweeters said on Twitter, commenting on the video, “Makkah is not a place for these trivial matters, as it is our religious facade to the world.”

Another commenter wrote that the law should be implemented to prevent such practices again.
