It has been 50 years
then the group Abba
vann Eurovision song contest.
It was April 6, 1974.
Abba won with the song Waterloo.
SVT will celebrate that on television
on Saturday, April 6.
It will be a big concert
with Abbas’s music.
The concert is broadcast live
from Circus in Stockholm.
Many famous artists
will sing and play.
But not Abba themselves.
All four have greeted
that they do not want to participate.
Abba won’t come either
to be at Eurovision
which is in Malmö in May.
– I do not want to,
has Benny Andersson
previously said to English television.
He is one of
the members of Abba.
The others are
Agnetha Fältskog,
Anni-Frid Lyngstad
and Björn Ulvaeus.
It is not uncommon
that Abba says no.
So it has been
since they stopped playing
together in the 1980s.
Carl-Magnus Palm
is an expert on Abba.
He doesn’t think so
that it is so strange
that Abba does not want
be there on Saturday.
– It’s incredible that people
still want to see a group
who stopped playing 42 years ago.
But I understand about them themselves
no longer want to be
part of Abba,
says Carl-Magnus Palm.
The concert for Abba
starts at 20:00 on Saturday.
