Eight coworkers purchased Powerball tickets at a Smokes 4 Less store, located at 59 North Plank Rd. in Newburgh, New Yorkfor the draw on November 5, 2022.
They didn’t match every number, but they did win a $1 million second-place prize.
The winning numbers were 28-45-53-56-69 and the Powerball number was 20.
Each of the eight co-workers walked away with $81,375 after choosing to receive the money in a single, lump-sum payment.split the money, and give the New York Lottery the required tax withholdings.
The winning workers were from Massachusetts, Florida, Puerto Rico, Georgia, Manhattan, the Bronx and Ozone Park, according to the New York Lottery.
Earlier in the same week that the workers bought their ticket, on November 2, 2022, a winning $1 million Powerball ticket was sold at the same Smokes 4 Less store.
Two months later, on Friday, January 13, another Smokes 4 Less store sold another million dollar winning Mega Millions ticket where the winning numbers were 7-13-14-15-18 with a golden Mega Ball of 9.
