8 New Cases of HIV AIDS Merangin – Jambi: 1 Died

Fun Jambi – A total of eight new cases of Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) were found in 2021 in Merangin Regency.

Meanwhile, according to data from the Merangin District Health Office, there were 69 cases of HIV/AIDS until 2021.

This was stated by the Head of the Merangin Health Service, drg. Sony Propesma through the Head of Disease Control and Eradication (P2P), Haris Nurdin, on Friday (7/1/2022).

“Tracking new cases of HIV/AIDS is an effort to anticipate and control infectious diseases directly in Merangin Regency. There were 69 cases until 2021. Among them, eight new cases were discovered during 2021,” he said.

Haris said, the eight new cases were all found at the Colonel Abunjani Bangko Hospital, these cases were found when they were being treated and then scanned and indicated HIV.

“There are also some people from their own consciousness to go to the hospital. We will not find any at the Puskesmas until the end of the year,” he said.

Even so, cases of HIV/AIDS in 2021 decreased from 2020, in 2020 there were 18 cases, while in 2021 there were 8 cases.

“Four people died in 2020, then in 2021 one pregnant woman died,” he said.
