Sore throat is a health problem that is often experienced by many people. Sore throat usually occurs due to a viral or bacterial infection.
As a result, the throat feels hot, itchy, dry, and painful when speaking. It even hurts when you just swallow food.
Even so, a sore throat is not a condition to worry about. Sore throats can get better within a week.
However, if you feel uncomfortable with a sore throat, you can try some of the following natural remedies.
1. White Water
When you have a sore throat, you need more fluids. Drinking water can increase the production of saliva in the mouth which helps to moisten the throat.
Water can also help clear the mucous membranes in the throat. So that the infection that causes sore throat can subside.
In order for the throat to return to normal quickly, drink about 2 liters of water a day. It can be plain water or warm water.
2. Salt Water
Gargling with salt water is known to be effective in relieving a sore throat. This is because salt water can remove a lot of mucus from the tissues in the throat area.
In addition, salt water can also relieve symptoms of throat irritation. The trick is to mix a teaspoon of salt with a glass of warm water.
However, gargling with salt water will not immediately cure a sore throat. You need to do it several times on a regular basis.
3. Honey
Honey is known to have various properties. One of them is to cure a sore throat.
That’s because honey has antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that help fight infection and relieve sore throats.
Honey is also more effective in relieving coughs than regular cough medicines. To treat a sore throat, use raw honey and mix it with a glass of warm water or tea.
4. Lemon
Lemons contain antioxidants and vitamin C, which are useful for maintaining the body’s immune system and fighting inflammation. Lemon can also increase saliva production and keep mucous membranes moist.
Although it can overcome a sore throat, the dose of lemon consumption must also be considered. Because the citric acid in lemons can cause heartburn.
Mix lemon juice with warm water. Then drink about 1-2 glasses in a day.
5. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is the result of fermented fresh apple extract for a certain period of time. The fermentation process produces acetic acid which can help fight bacteria.
There are two ways to use apple cider vinegar to treat a sore throat. That is drunk or used as a gargling solution.
Before using apple cider vinegar, make sure it has been mixed with water first. Because, apple cider vinegar has a strong sour taste. So it cannot be consumed raw.
