INDONESIAN JOURNALIST – Here 8 Dinosaur Names The most popular people who have ever lived on earth are complete with their lifetime and extinction below. Dinosaurs (clade Dinosauria) are a type of animal Reptile rooted in greek Deinos (terrible or very strong) and Sauros (Lizard) thus Dinosaur means Lizard strong or Lizard big. Ancient Animals it is estimated by experts to have lived 245 million years ago (near the beginning of the Middle Triassic Age) and thrived around the world for nearly 180 million years.
The British anatomist Richard Owen proposed the official term Dinosauria in 1842 to include three classifications of giant animals that Extinct (Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, and Hylaeosaurus) represented by large fossil bones that had been excavated at several locations in southern England during the early 19th century.
He argues that these reptiles were very different from the others, known in the present and the past for three reasons: they were large but clearly terrestrial, unlike ichthyosaurus and plesiosaurus already known. They have five vertebrae in the hip, whereas the best known reptiles have only two. Dinosaurs held their limbs under their bodies in a columnar fashion, like elephants and other large mammals.
Ancient animals famous through movies Jurrasic Park it includes more than 800 genera and more than 1,000 species worldwide. The archaeologists and paleontologists also update the findings of dinosaur fossils every year. As we know dinosaurs are divided into 3 types of reptiles (herbivores) plant eaters, (carnivores) meat eaters and (omnivores) plant and meat eaters.
Check out the explanation below, the 8 names of the most popular dinosaurs that ever lived on earth.

Dinosaur Lifespan
Referring to the British researcher Richard Owen, dinosaurs were first discovered in the 19th century. The existence of these fossils is evidence for archaeologists and paleontologists to see if there were generations of dinosaurs from different species.
According to researchers, the ancestors of dinosaurs were eoraptors who lived about 230 million years ago. Initially, the animal had a small body and was not as big as a dinosaur in general. Dinosaurs are predicted to live in the Mesozoic era which occurred between 250 and 65 million years ago.
Dinosaur Extinction Masa
One of the allegations of the extinction of the dinosaurs is still unanswered. The extinction of the dinosaurs is still a mystery to everyone. But there are those who argue that the extinction of the dinosaurs was caused by two things.
First, caused by a sudden increase in iridium. Iridium is a very dangerous chemical element that comes from outer space. Second, caused by a volcanic eruption that occurred 65 million years ago. Where the source of magma is issued with a current large enough to spread up to 2.5 km more.
For those of you who are curious about some of the dinosaurs that have lived on earth, here are 8 names of dinosaurs and a brief explanation:

1. Tyrannosaurus Rex
Starting with the most famous vicious reptile king i.e T-rex. lived in the late Cretaceous, the last period when dinosaurs ruled Earth. Even though it seems T-rex only living for 2 million years (a relatively short period, compared to other dinosaurs), it made a pretty big impact.
It is one of the largest known land predators and is thought to have the strongest bite of all land animals. However, while the T-Rex is likely an apex predator, it may also be a scavenger. To this day, the debate about whether he was purely a hunter or a scavenger is one of the hottest topics in paleontology.
2. Stegosaurus
Stegosaurus is a much older dinosaur than Tyrannosaurus Rex. So you can get a picture of the T-Rex living much closer to today’s times.
Stegosaurus was a large herbivore, they had a round back and a pointed tail. The tail is most likely used for defense against predators. The plate-like spine is known to serve a different purpose: thermoregulation.
It was traditionally believed that these plates also served as defense, but more recent research shows that they are highly vascularized, meaning they were good for regulating dinosaur temperature as well as for mating displays.
3. Triceratops
Unlike the Stegosaur, Triceratops was actually a contemporary of the T-Rex, so the two may have met each other. This huge dinosaur like a tank that has three demon-like horns on its head has strength like steel. However, while other findings prove Triceratops may not have been the gentlest of dinosaurs (fossil findings suggest that it regularly engaged in fights with predators and other members of its species), it was still a herbivore.
Triceratops was one of the last known true dinosaurs and went extinct 66 million years ago. His name literally means “three-horned face”. Its sturdy and strong body not only meant that Triceratops was not an easy prey.

4. Velociraptor
The Velociraptor wasn’t nearly as impressive as the other dinosaurs we’ve seen so far, and it wasn’t nearly as contemporary as the T-Rex either. It lived only a few million years before the T-Rex appeared. Velociraptor was a dog-sized dinosaur, part of a family called dromaeosaurids. The largest Velociraptors measured 2.07 m (6.8 ft) long, 0.5 m (1.6 ft) high.
In one of the most remarkable fossils ever found, the velociraptor was found fighting Protoceratops andrewsi, in a vivid example of predatory behavior. Also contrary to popular belief, there is no evidence that velociraptors hunted cooperatively (although recent findings suggest that they moved as a group).
5. Dilophosaurus
Dilophosaurus fossil was found in Northern Arizona. As a more primitive predatory dinosaur, Dilophosaurus did not have forward-facing eyes to provide sharp vision. He is also known to use scent as an integral part of his hunting technique.
It has long, slender teeth, curved backwards in long jaws and strong forelegs that will be effective for catching prey and are no less deadly than the T-Rex.
6. Spinosaurus
Spinosaurus was one of the largest known carnivorous dinosaurs, nearly as large or even larger than Tyrannosaurus. it lived about 100 million years ago, in the early to mid Cretaceous. Among many important parts of physiology, Spinosaurus also featured large neural spines on its back – from which its name also derives. The exact purpose of these spines is still a matter of debate, although like the Stegosaur, they were more likely to be used for thermoregulation and display than for defense.
For a long time, it was thought that Spinosaurus hunted fish. As shown by its elongated jaw, raised nostrils, and conical teeth. However, more recent findings (including a fossil containing another dinosaur bone in its stomach) suggest that Spinosaurus was most likely a common and opportunistic predator, eating anything its size allowed for hunting.

7. Allosaurus
Allosaurus means (different lizard) a name referring to its concave spine. Allosaurus was a large predator, somewhat like Tyrannosaurus. It was more than 9.5 meters (31 ft) long, although some partial findings suggest that it may have expanded far beyond that. However, unlike Tyrannosaurus, Allosaurus probably hunted in groups, making it one of the most ferocious predators of its time.
Like many other predatory dinosaurs (as well as ancient and modern crocodiles), Allosaurus continued to grow and replace its teeth. Even Allosaurus was more than capable of hunting its own prey, according to some findings.
8. Pteranodon
Entering the genus Pteranodon, which is also a reptile (pterosaur), fossils are found in North America, originating from about 90 million to 100 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous Period. Pteranodon had a wingspan of 7 meters (23 ft) or more, and its very long toothless jaw resembled that of a pelican.
