8 Defense employees died of COVID-19; none had been vaccinated

At the Ministry of Defense in Suriname there are now 122 COVID-19 positives. Of these, 84 are military personnel and the rest are family members. 8 employees have already died. None of them had been vaccinated, said Defense Minister Mathoera.

According to the minister, her department is making an effort to encourage employees to be vaccinated. This is done through awareness-raising conversations, in which the need for vaccination is pointed out.

Mathura has personally spoken to almost all unvaccinated people to give them facts and figures about how important it is to vaccinate. She thinks it is sad that 8 employees have died as a result of infections with the corona virus.

“Very sorry! We call for mass vaccination. Protect yourself and your family. Nothing is more important than your life!said the minister.
