Commonwealth of England returned to prominence after the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the appointment of King Charles III. Several British Commonwealth countries are known to want to give up their status as members of the Commonwealth.
The British Commonwealth is a free association of sovereign states, made up of the United Kingdom and some of its former powers that have chosen to maintain ties of friendship and practical cooperation.
The British Commonwealth was founded in 1931 by the Statute of Westminster. Most of the states that became independent after 1947 chose to become members of the Commonwealth.
The King or Queen of England is the symbolic head and a meeting of Commonwealth Heads of Government is held every two years.
56 countries of the British Commonwealth
In total there are around 56 member countries of the British Commonwealth spread across Europe, Africa, Asia, America and the Pacific.
Quoted by CNN Indonesia, of the number of countries, as many as 32 countries are small states, such as archipelagic countries.
However, only 15 of them have the king and queen of England as heads of state.
As for the Asian region, there are several British Commonwealth countries close to Indonesia. These countries are Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore. Here is the complete list.
