Venezuela’s Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, said on Friday that the needs of the 79 high-complexity hospitals across the country are being met, following the attack on the electrical system.

In an interview broadcast on Radio Nacional de Venezuela (RNV), the minister also explained that special attention is being paid to the needs of trauma-shock areas, intensive care units, surgical areas, dialysis units, blood banks and medications that require refrigeration.

In this regard, he indicated that each center is being checked for the necessary power plants with their respective fuel. Furthermore, he said that all the state platforms in terms of technology are being evaluated.

During the interview with RNV, Jiménez stated that cell phone services have been working properly, since she and her cabinet have been reporting to President Nicolás Maduro from the very beginning.

The electrical systems have a protocol for their energization; he explained that in a few hours the electrical service will begin to return.

Maduro sends a message

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said that “desperate fascism will always want to attack the peace and well-being of the people,” referring to the electrical sabotage that affected almost the entire national territory. Through his Telegram account, the president sent a message to the Venezuelan people and expressed that citizens must remain “calm and have nerves of steel.”

He also stressed that he remains at the forefront of the situation, “alongside the people” to confront the criminal attack that directly harms Venezuelan society.

In this regard, he stressed that “together we will overcome this new attack. We will always win!”

The Venezuelan government has appointed a special team to work on restoring the country’s electrical system.
