Khofifah Indar Parawansa was present at the 78th anniversary of the NU Muslimat at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta. Khofifah is the General Chair of the NU Muslimat Central Leadership.
The Governor of East Java (Jatim) dismissed the notion that the 78th anniversary of the NU Muslimat had a political content. He said that when the event took place there were no frills or political symbols.
“If people want to suspect (politicization), who can close the suspicion? What is in this process? Are there symbols? Are there logos? Or is there anything that should be suspected? For example, tausiah, rois aam, “It says how good this person is. Then the General Chairperson of PBNU said, I don’t think there is anything that should be suspected, except for those whose hearts are already suspicious,” said Khofifah after the event, Saturday (20/1/2024).
Khofifah said that the sacred activities held in the middle of the political year and the voting process had the potential for suspicion. However, he emphasized that this activity was deliberately created to offer prayers so that the election process would run smoothly.
“Indeed, this atmosphere has the potential to give rise to predictions and presumptions. But I want to convey to all of us that entering this very strategic event on February 14, we need prayer. We need collective remembrance. Why remembrance? People who recite remembrance will have their hearts calmed,” said Khofifah .
Khofifah also had time to ask the NU Muslimat congregation who were present about his NU identity. Regarding this, Khofifah admitted that it was necessary to obtain testimony from the congregation.
“Because it happened to be so busy and lively, it was necessary for the Muslim community to get their testimony. Do you think I doubt or doubt my NU status? It’s simple,” explained Khofifah after the 78th anniversary of the NU Muslim community.
He emphasized that regarding NU’s identity, no one can give an assessment. Moreover, there is a form of measuring someone’s NU.
“So in my opinion, we don’t need to suppress someone’s NU-ness,” said Khofifah.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was also present at the event. In his speech, Jokowi reminded the Indonesian people not to be divided because of different choices in the election.
“Soon we will have elections. Presidential and legislative elections. The election process is important and decisive, but we don’t want because of the election, because of differences of opinion, because of different choices we slander each other, that’s not allowed. Right?” Jokowi said.
“Can’t insult each other, can’t blaspheme each other. Can’t vilify each other,” he said.
