On Wednesday, the application for the July 2025 version of the National Defense Service ended, for which 782 citizens of Latvia voluntarily applied, the Press Department of the Ministry of Defense informed the LETA organization.
As 830 young people are expected to be drafted into the national defense service next summer, a random selection will be held on 26 November.
After the final selection of the voluntary application, the selection experts will review the application forms received to assess the compliance of the citizens with the criteria established by the Law of the National Defense Service .
If no obstacles to the service are found, a health check will be carried out – every citizen will receive information about the time and place of the check, as well as all the documents that will be provided for the check.
In order for a citizen to receive information about the call of the National Defense Service, it is necessary to create an official electronic address or e-mail address, where a call to come to inspections will be sent. If the citizen has not created an email address, the summons will be sent to the specified residence or issued against a signature.
It has already been reported that the recruitment of July 2025 will be made for 11 months in the Mechanized Brigade of the Land Forces in the military base in Ādaži, in the Air Force in the military base in Lielvārde, in the 2nd Vidzeme Brigade. of the National Guard in Alūksne and in the 3rd Latgale Brigade of the National Guard in Luznava, Rēzekne district.
