Edouard Fritch, President of the Country, accompanied by some of his ministers, went to Faa’a on Thursday to discuss with Oscar Temaru, mayor of the municipality, on the various current and future projects for the municipality .
In particular, the Vaitupa site was discussed, regularly called upon for the organization of various events such as agricultural fairs, exhibitions and funfairs. This site will soon be able to benefit from a landscaped park of nearly 4 hectares including relaxation and leisure areas, a large fare pōte’e, an esplanade, a refreshment area and sports areas. The landscaping will favor the use of endemic plants, fruit trees and noble species. This project is part of an overall development approach for the area which extends from the Vaitupa site to the future Tahitian Village.
The development work, co-financed under Project Contract No. 2, for a total amount of work estimated at nearly 780 million Fcfp, began last October with the construction of the fare pōte’e. They should continue throughout 2021 with delivery of the site expected in the first quarter of 2022.
Future fa’a’apu to Puurai
In addition, the Country will propose to the town at a forthcoming Council of Ministers the allocation of a state-owned area dependent on the former Bonnefin estate, located behind the Louis Ganivet stadium.
This allocation is part of a food security project in accordance with the agricultural master plan which has just been validated by the Country and for which the Country and the commune of Faa’a are mobilized.
