Banjarmasin (ANTARA) –

As many as 764 people in the province were infected by dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) mosquitoes from January to the end of 2022, according to the South Kalimantan Health Service.

South Kalimantan Health Service Chief Dr. Diauddin in Banjarmasin on Friday asked the public to remain vigilant, as cases of transmission have been reported on the rise every day till now.

He said the Banjar district of Banjabaru city has been the two areas with the highest number of patients infected with the Aedes aegypti mosquito virus so far this year.

From the records of its part throughout 2022, in Banjar regency as many as 105 residents were attacked by the DHF and in Banjabaru city there were 167 people.

“In December 2022 alone, 11 cases were recorded in Banjar regency and 16 cases in Banjabaru city,” he said.

This year’s DHF cases also caused deaths, that is, 6 out of 55 people infected with the DHF virus, two of them. in the city of Banjarmasin.

In addition, 2 people died from dengue from Banjar Regency and 2 people from Tapin Regency.

Diauddin said DHF cases were very high, exceeding 100 cases in South Kalimantan in July, August, September and October.

According to him, DHF cases subsequently declined, but in December cases increased again, the temporary record being more than 100 cases from 13 regencies and cities.

“All regencies/cities have zero cases,” he said.

He also appealed to the public to continue to be vigilant, not only for COVID-19, but also for DHF, by cleaning up the environment, eliminating places that contain water so that mosquitoes cannot breed.

“If there are symptoms of dengue fever, take them to a health place immediately, don’t be late,” he said.

From last year’s data, dengue cases in 2022 will increase significantly, because in 2021 there were only 201 cases.
