The hotel occupancy figure in Asturias during the month of August, which exceeds that registered in the same period of 2019 when the pandemic of the COVID-19, will allow to close a good tourist summer in the Principality within a “very hard” year for the sector, according to the president of the OTEA employer, José Luis Álvarez Almeida.
“It has been a good summer, but it will not be a good year because the numbers are for twelve months,” Almeida warned after recalling that, as a result of the pandemic, all hotel establishments in the region were closed for 158 days in a row, from November 4 of last year to April 10, 2021. In this sense, the president of OTEA has asked to lift “as soon as possible” the restrictions that still weigh on the hospitality industry that prohibit the consumption of bars and limit the number of diners.
