Seehausen. The supply situation with blood preparations has been tense for weeks. Now, in the fourth wave of corona, the donation volume has plummeted by 20 percent. The DRK blood donation service NSTOB is concerned about this situation. It is all the more gratifying that 76 donors were present at the last blood donation appointment of this year in the fire brigade building in Seehausen.

There were restrictions due to the corona pandemic. Only donors who had vaccinated, recovered or tested could be admitted. For organizational reasons, there were no rapid antigen tests or PCR tests on site. The organizers from the DRK local association Seehausen were nevertheless satisfied. At the last appointment of the year, Sabine Moll always counted around 100 donors. “But in view of the requirements, we can be satisfied,” she said in an interview with AZ. Marlies Duffe, the chairwoman of the Wischestädtischer DRK local association, sees it the same way. In addition to a first-time donor, there was an 80th donation, a 60th donation, a 40th donation and twice a 25th donation, reported Sabine Moll, who traditionally receives those willing to donate together with her husband Jürgen. Then the process is as follows: The current state of health is queried on a sheet. Then blood pressure, body temperature and hemoglobin level are determined during a preliminary examination. This is followed by a confidential medical interview to determine whether the patient is suitable for donation. This is followed by the donation, in which around 500 milliliters of blood are taken. After the break there is a snack to take away.

Five blood donation appointments are scheduled for next year in the Hanseatic city of Seehausen. These are on February 18, May 6, July 22, September 30 and December 16. Then the devices will be ready from 2.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the equipment shed of the voluntary fire brigade on Otto-Nuschke-Straße. Sabine Moll and Marlies Duffe hope that there will be a high willingness to donate again.
