“75-Year-Old Woman Attacked and Robbed of 8 Rupees and Gold Ornaments in Broad Daylight”

Uzhavoor ∙ A 75-year-old woman living alone was attacked in broad daylight and robbed of 8 rupees. 2 youths attacked Eliamma Joseph’s house and stole 6 bangles and 2 rings. Eliamma was slightly injured. The incident happened at 1.45 pm yesterday.

Eliamma lives alone as her children are abroad. The youth who reached home yesterday afternoon asked for mangoes. When he went inside the house to pick mangoes, one of the youths followed him. Then he pushed Eliamma to the bed and covered her mouth and took off her bangles and ring. Hearing the commotion, the neighbors came running, but the youth passed by on a scooter. They say that only one of the youths got inside.

Eliamma has given a statement that a few days ago, a group of four members came to the house in connection with the collection of money for a voluntary organization and it is suspected that two members of this group came yesterday. Police reached the spot under the leadership of Vaikom ASP Nakul Rajendra Deshmukh.
