Dale Singer was cleaning the stairs at the entrance to her home as she did every day when part of the façade collapsed and fell on her, killing her.
The deadly accident occurred on Tuesday, February 13 at noon in a home located on Sixth Avenue near 54th Street in the Sunset Park area of Brookyln.
Surveillance video captured the moment the heavy cement blocks fell onto the stairs and hit the 74-year-old woman.
The victim was found still alive and was rushed to the Maimonides hospital where he died due to the strong impact.
“He got up very early to sweep the entire block, it was his routine,” said a neighbor.
“A neighbor called her this morning to stop sweeping or cleaning the snow,” he added.
The woman lived with her children and her husband, who in addition to suffering the tragedy had to vacate the 120-year-old property for safety reasons.
It was reported that the owner of the home was fined for not providing adequate maintenance and was evicted to conduct a complete report on the condition of the structure.
