74-Year-Old Hispanic Found Dead in Her Manhattan Apartment, Tied Hands and Feet – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK — A death on the Upper West Side has left more questions than answers after a 74-year-old woman was found inside her apartment this week bound and unconscious.

Authorities say the woman was discovered Wednesday night in her West 83rd Street apartment with her hands and feet bound, but said she had “no other obvious signs of trauma.” The medical examiner will determine her cause of death.

Police and EMS responded to the woman’s apartment around 10 p.m. after receiving a 911 call, the NYPD said. The latter pronounced her dead at the scene.

The woman has been identified as María Hernández.

The 74-year-old woman’s death has since been ruled a homicide, but no additional details about her death have been released by officials, nor have any suspicious descriptions been shared with the public.

The investigation is ongoing.
