Ticket sales start – in 2024 the net proceeds will benefit the “StoP – districts without partner violence” project
Vienna (OTS) – In 2024 it will be “Meet the Medics” again in the Vienna Hofburg on the last Saturday in January and the 72nd Vienna Doctors’ Ball will be the “Night of Medicine”. This time the Doctors’ Ball is all about an important Austrian pioneer of medicine: Karl Landsteiner. Tickets and table seats are now available via the website www.aerzteball.at be ordered. ***
The Nobel Prize winner Landsteiner is considered the “father of immunohematology” thanks to his groundbreaking discoveries in the field of blood group serology, which laid the foundation for modern transfusion medicine and thus saved millions of lives. The design and decorative elements take visitors on surprising encounters with the history of medicine and shed light on interesting or even previously unknown things.
The opening of the ball with pieces from the Strauss operetta “Wiener Blut” also refers to Karl Landsteiner’s work, as does the ball donation, a hand-made art print in an edition of 3,500 pieces, which this time was designed by students from the University of Applied Arts. In doing so, it takes up the tradition of artistically designed ball donations in a new form.
Since 2013, the net proceeds and donations collected from the Doctors’ Ball have benefited a charitable organization. Many social institutions have been supported in recent years. Most recently, 59,745 euros were donated to the MOMO children’s hospice in 2023. In 2024, the net proceeds will go to the “StoP – Neighborhoods without Partner Violence” project run by the Autonomous Austrian Women’s Shelters Association.
Zwtl: ticket sales and U30 early bird tickets
Tickets and table seats are now available via the website www.aerzteball.at be ordered. The special “U30 Early Bird” ticket contingent at reduced prices for all doctors under 30 will also be available at the Medical Ball in 2024. The so-called Late Night Ticket for 30 euros allows later but discounted entry from 12:30 a.m., but is limited because it is tied to the maximum number of visitors allowed.
When it comes to tickets, the switch to print@home and mobile tickets remains the same. There will be no ball office in 2024 either, as everything can be done electronically.
