The MRC de Montmagny is launching its first call for projects under the signature of innovation and sustainable health. An envelope of $700,000 is available to the 13 rural municipalities of the MRC to stimulate them to launch initiatives that go in the direction of the five axes of the Sustainable Health Action Plan, namely the environment and the ecosystem, the health and well-being, food security, education and youth, and sports and culture.
This call for projects concerns all the municipalities of the MRC de Montmagny, with the exception of the City of Montmagny. These initiatives aim to improve the Cultural and Sports Complex’s offer in sustainable health for the territory’s rural communities. Eligible organizations are as follows: municipal organizations and Aboriginal communities, private and social economy enterprises (except those in the financial sector), cooperatives (except those in the financial sector), non-profit organizations, education network and legal persons wishing to start a business. However, the organization must have the support of the municipality in which it is located in order to submit a project.
In order to encourage the municipalities to collaborate, the MRC has separated them into four poles. The south pole includes Lac Frontière, Sainte-Lucie, Saint-Just and Saint-Fabien. The north pole includes Berthier-sur-Mer, Saint-François and Cap-Saint-Ignace. The central pole is made up of Sainte-Apolline, Saint-Paul, Sainte-Euphémie and Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire. Finally, the island pole is formed of Saint-Antoine-de-l’Isle-aux-Grues. Each pole has $225,000, except for the island, whose budget is $45,000.
Frédérique Boulet, project manager at the MRC, gives some examples of projects that could be eligible for the program. It could be a school that would like new infrastructure in its yard that would be open to the whole community, a new promoter that offers a cultural or sports service, etc.
The MRC hopes that this financial assistance will serve as a lever to launch structuring initiatives for the region. The responsible team will be responsible for guiding the promoters in order to supplement the amounts necessary for the realization of the project by other government programs also available.
The deadline to submit a project before the first consultation committee is May 6, 2022. The next round will be in October 2022. Until 2025 or until the MRC has exhausted the money contained in the budget envelope , a committee will select projects in January, May and October each year. Details for eligibility as well as the deposit form are available in the “Signature and innovation” tab of the MRC de Montmagny website.
The total budget envelope is $1.4 million. However, half, or $700,000, is already earmarked for projects related to the future Sustainable Health Cultural and Sports Complex, such as a shuttle pilot project for the first two years, which will go to the Complex twice a week. Part of this amount will also go towards human resources involved in these projects.
