70,000 people in Germany protest against Covid-19 restrictions / Day

Many protesters were very unhappy with the possible mandatory vaccination.

There was a strong police presence at the protest sites. Counter-demonstrations also took place in several places.

Several demonstrations took place in Rostock, as well as in Baucene and Cottbus. Most of the protesters did not have face masks and did not keep their distance.

Several demonstrations, including in Rostock and Bauen, were disrupted by police because they were not properly registered or the protesters did not comply with health measures.

However, most of the demonstrations went smoothly.

Police say around 21,000 people have gathered in Thuringia and around 14,000 in Bavaria.

About 3,000 people took part in the protest march in Berlin, police estimated.

German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach has proposed making vaccination against Covid-19 compulsory in order to avoid the introduction of a new quarantine regime.

“I would prefer to protect the unvaccinated with a general obligation to vaccinate rather than strict restrictions in the spring for everyone,” the minister said.
