No less than 70 percent of Flemish people in the age category of twelve to seventeen years old have already received their first corona jab and will be fully vaccinated before the start of the school year. Up to and including Thursday, 5,173,017 Flemings have already been vaccinated, accounting for 77.75 percent of the 6,653,062 Flemings. Among them, 4,689,228 Flemish (70.48 percent) have been fully vaccinated. This is reported by the Flemish Agency for Care and Health.

4,838,481 adults Flemings have been vaccinated. That is 90.22 percent of the 5,363,075 adult inhabitants of Flanders. 4,618,201 adult Flemish (86.11 percent of adult Flemish) have been fully vaccinated. No fewer than 1,300,777 people (94.49 percent of the Flemish over-65s) of the Flemish population over 65 have been fully vaccinated. From August 16, the supply of corona vaccines in Flanders will exceed the demand for the first time. Deliveries will no longer determine how many shots are taken. Vaccination centers will be draining their local supplies to prepare for a possible shutdown.
First shots for 12 year olds
In the coming week, the focus of the Flemish vaccination campaign will be on the first shots among twelve to fifteen-year-olds and the second chance shots among earlier vaccine refusers and groups that are more difficult to reach. The vaccination campaign also focuses on second shots, including delayed shots. In the week of August 16, 170,711 vaccines will be administered, of which 732 are first shots, the majority with Johnson & Johnson’s corona vaccine, and 169,979 second shots. In the week of August 23, 151,445 vaccinations are planned, of which 10,342 first shots and 141,103 second shots.
Last call to vaccine refusers
The Agency for Care and Health makes a final call to those who still want a first shot. Anyone who missed their first chance of a corona vaccine, but did not explicitly refuse the corona vaccine, can make an appointment for a first vaccination from next week. The expired vaccination code is then reactivated. Anyone who previously refused the corona vaccine can still register for the reserve list via QVAX. Please note: because vaccination centers use the final sprint, fewer vaccination moments are available.
