The family of a landlord named Jeong, who is suspected of committing a Suwon lease fraud, is being reviewed for an arrest warrant.

The Suwon District Court is reviewing arrest warrants for three people, including Mr. Jeong and his son, who are suspected of fraud, starting at 11 a.m. today.

It is reported that Mr. Jeong and others entered the courthouse to avoid reporters.

Mr. Jeong’s family is suspected of having signed a lease agreement with tenants worth around 100 million won, but failing to return the deposit.

The police summoned and investigated Mr. and Mrs. Jeong three times until the 21st of last month, and Mr. and Mrs. Jeong are said to have denied the charges during the interrogation.

A total of 51 suspects have been booked so far in connection with this incident.

The group included four landlords, including Mr. Jeong’s family and one official from the real estate corporation they operated, and 47 real estate agents.

As of the 28th of last month, a total of 466 complaints had been filed with the police regarding Mr. Jeong’s family, and the amount of damage amounted to 70.6 billion won.

Previously, on the 28th of last month, the police applied for a preliminary arrest warrant for Mr. Jeong’s family on fraud charges.

A police official said, “After a comprehensive review of the materials obtained through the subpoena investigation and search and seizure, we believe that the charge of fraud is acknowledged and that there is a need for detention.”

Whether or not to arrest Jeong’s family is expected to be decided as early as tonight.
