Bantul –
A total of 95 residents in Srigading Village, Kapanewon Sanden, Regency Bantul, DIY, underwent a PCR swab after coming into contact with a resident with COVID-19 symptoms during preparation for a celebration. As a result, 70 people were confirmed positive Corona virus.
“The first to undergo a mass PCR swab test were 95 people. All of this (mass swab) was to anticipate the transmission of COVID-19,” said Srigading Village Head, Prabawa Suganda, when contacted by reporters, Monday (28/6/2021).
The man who is familiarly called Bowo said the majority of these 95 people were residents of the Ngunan-ngunan Village. They underwent a mass PCR swab last week, after one of the residents who helped prepare for the wedding celebration complained of coughing, runny nose, fever, and loss of sense of smell or anosmia.
“Residents who experience these symptoms have been in contact with many residents who helped prepare for the wedding,” said Bowo.
While waiting for the results to come out, residents who have been in contact with the symptomatic person are self-isolating. When the test results came out, it turned out that most of the results were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
“For yesterday’s mass swab, from 95 there were 70 people whose results were positive (COVID-19). Then today there are 20 more people who underwent swab, we are still waiting for the results,” he said.
Villages Prepare Additional Shelters
Bowo explained that the 70 residents are now in self-isolation. His party is currently building additional shelters to anticipate the surge in COVID-19 cases in the region.
“Currently 70 people who have tested positive are undergoing self-isolation in their homes. For that we are carrying out strict monitoring of them, we are also trying to establish additional shelters,” he said.
Bowo said that the shelter in his area has a capacity of 9 people and is now filled with 7 people. Currently, his party is preparing an additional shelter at one of the vocational schools in the Srigading Village.
“Because this one (the new shelter) can accommodate 40 people later,” he said.
