The girl said that in the annex she lived in the cold among mice and spiders, and her stepfather often beat her.
The chicken coop door was always locked.
The child attended the first grade of the village school, but often looked inadequate and exhausted, the locals noticed. At school, he complained that he was cold and hungry, and his classmates often took some of their snacks for him.
The head of the regional directorate for social assistance in Vratsa, Maria Tarnavska, said that it was not confirmed whether he lived for a year and a half in an outbuilding, but it was clear that it was indeed left unattended by his mother and her partner.
She personally got acquainted with the conditions in which the child lived and described them as appalling.
The little girl said that she rarely eats, and food was given to her through the window of the annex.

The family had another child, but he was raised in the house
and there are no reports of him being mistreated.
Kamenov added that the case is still in the initial stage and many circumstances surrounding the behavior of the stepfather and the mother are yet to be revealed.
The two denied during the interrogations that they raised him under the described harsh conditions, prosecutor Todorov explained at a briefing on Wednesday. During the police operation, however, after the report was filed, the girl was found in this warehouse for unnecessary items next to the house, freezing and hungry.
However, Todorov categorically refused to tell details about the behavior of the mother and the second man, so as not to interfere with the investigation that had begun.
