A 7-year-old boy lost his life after being hit by a New York police tow truck while crossing a street on his scooter in Brooklyn.
The events were reported to 911 this Thursday morning at the intersection of North Portland Avenue and Myrtle Avenue.
According to initial reports, a police tow truck was traveling on Myrtle Avenue and turned right onto Portland Avenue in front of Fort Greene Park and struck the child head-on.
The victim was heading to school accompanied by his mother when he was hit by the official vehicle.
The tow truck was driven by a 54-year-old woman who has not been identified and who remained at the scene after the accident.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident is under investigation.

Yésika Marleny’s sister informed her parents, who are in Guatemala, of the death, and now the family is seeking to raise funds to repatriate the body. She had emigrated to the United States due to lack of opportunities in her country.

The NYPD informed the family that it could not show them the video of the Guatemalan woman fainting and falling onto the train track, captured by a security camera. However, the scene also ended up on TikTok and shows that the young woman did collapse on the edge of the platform.
