7 Ways to Care for Remote Keyless Motor

Jakarta

Many of the latest motorcycles are now equipped with a keyless system. The keyless system makes the operation of the motor easier, because there is no need to insert the key into the key housing. Just carry the keyless remote in your pocket or bag, then turn the knob, the motor can be turned on or off.

Keyless is a system for turning on or off a motorcycle/car engine without using a key. This feature was originally used in cars with the production year of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Later this technology was adapted by many motorcycle manufacturers.

On Honda motorcycles, this technology is known as the Smart Key System and is found in several models such as Scoopy, Vario150, ADV150, PCX160, as well as PCX e:HEV hybrid motorcycles, PCX Electric electric scooters, Forza premium scooters, Super Cub C125 premium duck, to big bike X-ADV, sport CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, and Honda Goldwing.

“The embedding of advanced features in the Honda Smart Key System will increase the sense of security and comfort for motorcycle users. Of course, riders need to know how to use and care properly to be able to use them optimally,” said Endro Sutarno, Technical Service Division of PT AHM, in his official statement. , Thursday (7/10/2021).

AHM explained, here are special tips for caring for and using remote keyless so that this smart key is durable and can be used more optimally to support your driving activities:

1. Avoid Excessive Pressure

Excessive pressure on the smart key remote may cause damage. Press the remote button properly when activating or using the features available on the Honda Smart Key System and avoid falling from a height.

2. Keep it dry

It should be noted that water entering from between the remotes can potentially cause damage to the keyless remote due to an electric short circuit. If exposed to water or wet, it should be dried before use and avoid exposure to the sun for too long because it will damage the related components.

3. Avoid Putting the Remote in the Luggage

It is better not to put the remote smart key in the trunk of the motorbike or in places where it could potentially be left behind and allow the motorbike to be operated by others. Also make sure the remote is always attached to you, can be placed in a bag or in a pocket to reduce the potential for losing the remote smart key.

4. Avoid Electromagnetic Radiation

Keep the Honda Smart Key System away from objects that generate radio waves such as televisions, computers/laptops, cellphones, transmitting towers because they have the potential to interfere with the signal or frequency of the Smart Key System remote.

5. Keep and Secret ID Tag

Keep the ID Tag in a safe place and do not share the ID Tag code with others. The ID tag functions as a tool to operate a motorcycle in an emergency, additional registration when all Honda Smart Key Systems are lost and immobilizer ID registration when the Smart Control Unit is replaced.

6. Keep Smart Key Backup at Home

It is enough to carry only one Smart Key when driving, so that if you experience losing your remote smart key while driving, there are still other spare smart keys at home.

7. Position Remote Off When Not In Use

When you arrive at your destination, make sure the position of the motorcycle is in the handlebar lock and the remote is in the Off position, so that the signal that connects the smart key and the motorbike is cut off. The Honda Smart Key System indicator in the OFF position is a red light on the remote and will light up when pressed.
