Petra Mede hosts Eurovision 2024
After Loreens Euphoria took home the win in Eurovision 2012, it was Sweden’s turn to act as the host country the following year – and it was Petra Mede, who all by herself, had to host the competition. It was the first time in years that someone had done it all by themselves.
In 2016, it was Sweden’s turn to organize the competition again, and once again Petra Mede was selected as host. That time she did it together with Måns Zelmerlöv, who had won Eurovision the year before. This year will thus be the third time that the comedian leads the competition, and this time she does it with the actor Malin Åkerman.
What does she get paid to host Eurovision?
When the comedian was a guest in Afternoon in P3 she was asked if she gets paid well to host Eurovision. Petra Mede replied to that:
– Everything is relative. But I received a text message from David Lindgren who said that “now you may finally be able to pay off the mortgage”, and I hope so.
We do not know the exact sum at the moment.
Petra Mede has been a ballet dancer
Did you know that Petra Mede is basically a ballet dancer? She has trained at the Ballet Academy, but was forced to put dancing on the shelf when she injured her back as a 20-year-old, something she told about in Renée’s bridge. After being on long-term sick leave, she broke through as a comedian, and since then we’ve seen her everywhere.
She is not only a presenter and comedian – Petra Mede has also played the role of Katja in the Bonus family. Before the fourth season, she was unfortunately forced to drop out of the series, after contracting covid-19. Her character was taken over by Emma Peters.

Therefore, Petra Mede canceled some dates of her show 50/50
During 2022 and 2023, Petra Mede was current with the comedy show 50/50 at the Scala Theater in Stockholm. In the performance, she reflected on what it is like to grow older.
– The performance is about turning 50, about being over on the other side. About finally being able to breathe out, and then, quickly as hell, breathe in and take a new batch and accelerate on the rampage, said Petra Mede in a press release before the show.
But several 50/50 dates were cancelled, as a result of her back pain.
