The cleaner may visit you regularly to tidy up. But what do these interior designers know about you? What deep secrets do they know? It’s probably more than you think.
Okay, not everyone can afford a cleaner. For those who can’t, these handy cleaning tricks may be a solution. But for those who do have domestic help at home every week, it may not always be clear what these cleaners know. Huffpost spoke to a number of cleaners who talk about their jobs and the scenes they encounter.
Cleaners know the deepest secrets
Sara San Angelo, who has been cleaning at various addresses for twenty years, says that the cleaner “knows all your secrets.” Even without having to see you at all. According to her, cleaners do not deliberately snoop around, but simply find a lot of things in the house. And if you fear this, San Angelo has a simple tip: “If you don’t want me to find out you have herpes, hide your cream somewhere where you can’t clean.”
In addition to San Angelo, cleaners Adrienne Parkes, Delah Gomasi and Rocky Vunog also share their discoveries. They list seven things that your cleaner probably knows about you.
This is what cleaners know about you…
1. Alcohol problem
Empty bottles say more than you think. And don’t forget the trash cans and glass bins. The cleaners say that they regularly find empty alcohol bottles in all kinds of places. “Just because you throw something away or put it in the trash doesn’t mean it’s gone.”
2. Sex life
Extra large or extra small condoms, pregnancy tests, sex toys. The cleaners came across it all. But they also have affairs that come to light, says San Angelo.
3. Lifestyle
The cleaner knows the real truth. Parkes says, among other things, that she cleaned the house of a famous Netflix actor, but that his life was not as glamorous as it seemed. “He lived on takeaway and ready-made meals. His house was dirty and neglected and there were post-it notes with affirmations on them everywhere.”
Gomasi, from the Australian Maid For You, also confirms this. His clients look rich, glamorous and prosperous, but their homes tell a different story. “When we enter their home, there are rooms filled with empty pizza boxes, paper bags from food delivery, dirty mattresses without sheets, dirty underwear or animal feces all over their apartment.”
4. Greed
According to Parker, the rich are often the stingiest. “The more money someone has, the stingier they are. They are also the ones who want you to clean their glass stairs by hand in a 500 square meter mansion for 150 euros.” She says that many wealthy customers skip a tip during the Christmas period. But many of her wealthy clients also no longer wanted Parker as a cleaner because she had increased her rates. “Because of the current inflation.”
And San Angelo explains that a client consistently underpaid her. Even if it was just a few tens of euros. “She always said I would get it back later, but that never happened.”
5. Mental state
According to San Angelo, who works in America, the number of Americans who use medicines is particularly large. “Whenever there is a mental health crisis in America, I witness it.” According to her, people take heavy medication for psychological disorders and mental problems.
Vunog emphasizes that there are more signals of mental problems. “A noticeable decline in the maintenance of a home, especially if it was previously done neatly, can sometimes be an indication that someone is struggling.” He emphasizes that piled and unopened mail or closed curtains are also subtle signals.
6. Self-confidence
According to San Angelo, some customers have little shame about their bodies. For example, a yoga instructor walked unashamedly naked through the house or had a conversation with the cleaning lady while she was getting dressed. But according to San Angelo, the elderly do not always seem to have difficulty with this. And Parker also agrees that the door was regularly opened by someone wearing only a towel. Or that people had gigantic nude portraits of themselves hanging on their walls.
7. Relationship or marital problems
“We can always tell when a couple has relationship problems,” says Gomasi. According to him, many cleaners see, for example, at the bed or the couch or couples in difficult times. “The sofa has been turned into a makeshift bed and the bed in the master bedroom has only one pillow.”
According to this doctor, this is the reason why people grow old quickly
