7 months in prison for the man who threatened to kill Boyko Borisov and Iva Miteva

Imprisonment for 7 months and 15 days, under an initial “strict” regime. This is the sentence for the 26-year-old L.Ya., who threatened to assassinate the Speaker of the 46th National Assembly Iva Miteva and the former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. This was announced by the prosecutor’s office.

On October 24, 2021, after 10 pm in Varna, the accused sent two emails to the Ministry of Justice, in which he wrote that he had a gun and would kill the Speaker of the 46th National Assembly Iva Miteva.

The next evening in Sofia, he sent an e-mail to the Ministry of Justice in his personal e-mail, in which he wrote that he would assassinate the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Boyko Borissov.

In the course of the investigation, expert examinations were made and witnesses were questioned.

The accused pleaded guilty and after an agreement approved by the Sofia District Court, he was sentenced to 7 months and 15 days in prison, which he is to serve under an initial “strict” regime. The agreement has the consequences of an effective sentence and is not subject to appeal, the prosecution said.
