7 months in arrears, PT INTI has money being stuck in a bank

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia PT Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero) or PT INTI has an obligation to pay salaries to its employees who have not been paid for seven months. In fact, the company still has a number of funds in state-owned banks that cannot be disbursed.

Special Staff to the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Arya Sinulingga revealed that the funds would at least be sufficient to pay salaries to these employees.

“PT INTI has cash deposits in two state-owned banks, now this cash cannot be withdrawn because they have certain bills that force the bank to hold the cash,” said Arya in Jakarta, Tuesday (9/8/2020).

To that end, the ministry has asked the two state-owned banks to immediately disburse the funds so that the company can pay the salaries of its employees for the past seven months.

“For that we have also asked these two state-owned national banks to also release these deposits so that they can pay. And we can see from the money they have that they can pay employee money,” he said.

The next stage, to ensure the company still has ready funding. The ministry has also asked PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (TLKM) to provide projects for the company to work on. This is done to ensure the sustainability of the company’s business going forward.

“We hope that the project given by Telkom will make PT INTI get fresh funds in the future,” added Arya.

Previously it was reported that the company had stopped paying employee salaries since February 2020. According to management’s explanation to employees, this occurs because the company experiences a business loss which causes negative cash flow.

Chairman of the INTI Workers Union, Ridwan Al Faruq, said that every month all employees experience uncertainty because the notification of not paying salaries is delivered at the end of each month ahead of the pay day. During that time these employees also continue to work full time as usual.

“That until now the company has not fulfilled the rights of PT INTI employees, starting from February 2020,” Ridwan told CNBC Indonesia, Monday (7/9/2020).

He revealed that the last salary payment occurred in February, but employees were only paid Rp. 1 million. In the following months the company only received notifications from the company.

“Regarding the Rp. 1 million, it is the maximum effort of management by means of funds here and there,” he said.

Ridwan revealed that currently employees need attention from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to find a way out of the problem. However, until now there has been no ministerial attention regarding this matter.
