According to the Chicago Fire Department, it happened in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.
The incident was reported to authorities around 7:30 p.m. west of 72nd Street and south of Wentworth Avenue.
The seven minors were taken to the children’s hospital, however reports indicate that the injuries were not life threatening.
The Chicago Fire Department commented on Twitter that the minors were sitting in child protection seats.
Firefighters stressed the importance of using these child safety seats when traveling by car. No further details on the cause of the accident have been released yet.
