Fulfilling the last meal wishes of death row inmates has become a common thing in US prisons. These seven death row convicts asked KFC to Pizza Hut before dying.

In the early 1800s, granting death row inmates a final meal was common practice in prisons across the United States. This practice continued into the early 1900s and mid-20th century.

Death row convicts who will be executed by electric chair, lethal injection, and hanging have one chance to ask for whatever food they want to eat last time. Most ask for their favorite food throughout their lives.

For example KFC fried chicken, meat lover pizza from Pizza Hut, ice cream, to Coca-Cola soda. Each death row inmate’s last meal request has its own interesting story.

1. Robert Alton Harris

In 1978, Robert Alton Harris was known as a perpetrator of car theft, kidnapping of two teenage boys, bank robbers, and murderers. He was also sentenced to death in 1992 by a court in San Diego, United States.

Before his life ended, he asked for a feast of good food. There were 21 KFC Buckets, 2 large Domino’s pizzas, a bowl of ice cream, a bag of jelly beans, soda, and Camel cigarettes. Unfortunately, one of the menus he asked for was not available, namely Domino’s pizza. Finally the prison officials replaced it with homemade pizza.

2. Bruno Richard Hauptmann

Bruno Richard Hauptmann is a controversial convict because he is believed to be innocent. He, who is an immigrant from Germany, is thought by many to have only been made a scapegoat in the kidnapping and murder of the son of a famous pilot during the Great Depression.

It’s just that Bruno could not escape the death sentence sentenced in 1936 to the electric chair. Before he died, he only asked for a simple meal of roast chicken, cherries, french fries, butter peas, olives, and celery. He was also given a piece of cake as dessert.

3. John Wayne Gacy

This notorious death row convict is one of the most horrific serial killers in United States history. It was John Wayne Gacy who killed 36 men between 1972 and 1978. He buried the bodies of his victims under his house.

In 1994, Gacy was sentenced to death by lethal injection. He wants to enjoy KFC fried chicken on his last day. Gacy, who had worked at KFC, also asked for french fries, fried shrimp, and strawberries.

4. Adolf Eichmann

Closely related to Adolf Hitler, Adolf Eichmann was one of Hitler’s confidants who oversaw the killing of many people during World War II. Had fled, but Eichmann’s fate ended tragically because he was brought by Israeli agents back to Europe to be tried for massive human rights violations.

In 1962 in an Israeli prison, Eichmann was sentenced to death by hanging. The last drink he enjoyed was a bottle of red wine from Israel called Carmel.
