7 Foods to Prevent Hair Loss Due to Excessive Humidity

Hair loss is a common problem due to excessive humidity in the environment. It can cause oily hair, itchy scalp, dandruff and folliculitis which can eventually lead to hair loss.

Just like your body, your hair also needs additional nutrients to cope with weather conditions. Eating the right foods can nourish and strengthen hair follicles and prevent them from breaking.

A lack of proper nutrition, including vitamins A, C, D, and E, zinc, B vitamins, iron, biotin, protein, and essential fatty acids, can slow hair growth and even lead to hair loss.

Nutritionist Lovneet Batra provides food suggestions to prevent hair loss as broadcast by the Hindustan Times on Monday (17/7) local time.

1. Spinach

Spinach is very good for hair health because it is a good source of iron, Vitamins A & C, Omega-3 fatty acids, and magnesium. This helps maintain healthy scalp and shiny hair.

2. Lentils

There’s a reason why beans and lentils are considered an indispensable part of your daily diet. Adding it to your diet can help strengthen your hair and promote regrowth. Lentils are an excellent source of protein, iron, zinc and biotin. They are also loaded with Vitamins B and C which are essential for restoring healthy hair.

3. Walnuts

Apart from being a brain food, walnuts are also a great hair food. Canary contains biotinVitamin B (B1, B6, B9), Vitamin E, lots of protein and magnesium, all strengthen the hair cuticle and nourish the scalp.

4. Yoghurt

Yogurt is packed with Vitamin B5 and Vitamin D which are known to promote hair follicle health. It can be applied to hair mixed with egg, honey or lemon. Should also be consumed in the form raita or buttermilk regularly for hair health.

5. Oat

Adding healthy, fibrous whole grains to your diet is important for overall health. Oats are rich in fiber zinciron, omega-3 fatty acids, and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) that stimulate hair growth.

6. Strawberries

Strawberries can be another addition to your list of super delicious hair foods. Strawberries contain high levels of silica. Silica may be trace minerals that are essential for hair strength and hair growth.

7. Sweet potato

Beta carotene protects against dry and dull hair and stimulates the glands in your scalp and sweet potatoes are an excellent source for hair.
